We returned to Glacier Point that evening to see the beautiful sunset. From the point of view at Glacier Point, the sun does not set behind Half Dome, but in front of it, meaning that Half Dome and the sky behind it gets lit up in an array of beautiful colors.
Once the sun set behind the mountains, we went back to camp and waited for it to get dark. However, my father and I were not done for the night. We grabbed our gear and headed back out to—you guessed it—Glacier point. There, we saw something I had only seen once in my life before: the Milky Way. To the naked eye, it was hard to see. But with a camera and a little bit of skill, the Milky Way began to emerge over Half Dome.
