Science Connected Magazine is an editorially independent, non-profit newsroom producing open-access science journalism and scientific fact-checking for the global public. We work to increase science literacy and public access to reliable information. We are published by Science Connected 501(c)(3) in San Francisco, California. Science Connected does not endorse products or services. Advertising revenue helps to support our not-for-profit programs.

While our science news articles are organized by broad category, most of the research we report on is largely interdisciplinary in nature.

About Science Connected

Science Connected is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit producer of fun, engaging, research-based science education resources. We are a global group of scientists and science communicators who are dedicated to increasing public understanding of science and creating free and equal access to science education.

Together we help scientists provide public access to their research findings; translate complex research findings into accessible insights on science, nature, and technology; and facilitate scientific research, communication, and lifelong learning.

Our organization views science as a space for growth, opportunity, community, environmental stewardship, and education. We put this view into practice by creating a collaborative space for researchers, citizen scientists, educators, and science communicators to write about scientific projects that will change our world. And because we also report on the culture and politics surrounding science, we often focus on its human side, offering a place for scientists and community members to tell their stories. In addition to publishing Science Connected Magazine, we produce teaching guides, lab manuals, and paperback anthologies.

We live in an era of constant scientific discovery and technological change. Science directly impacts our lives and requires our input as informed citizens. Moreover, as our economy increasingly depends on advances in science and technology, new jobs are created in STEM fields. The success of nations depends on building a scientifically literate citizenry and a skilled, STEM-educated workforce.

Scientific literacy is essential to a post-industrial society. Companies often seek to hire STEM-literate employees, only to be met with a shortage of qualified applicants. By ensuring that all students have access to education in STEM subjects, we can close the so-called “skills gap.”

At Science Connected, we work with scientists and educators to provide children with the scientific knowledge that will help employ them, help them become the citizens, leaders, and innovators of tomorrow. But that’s not all. We also work with researchers, journalists, universities, and industry leaders to provide cutting-edge research findings to people of all ages who continue to change our world for the better.
